Candler Elementary School hosted a vibrant Global Celebration Day, bringing together students, staff, and families to honor cultures from around the world through music, dance, and art.
The entire school participated in the event, which culminated in a lively concert for families featuring student performances in song, dance, and drumming. Classrooms were decorated to reflect different regions of the world, and students shared what they learned with visitors and peers.
Each grade focused on a different part of the globe. Kindergarten students explored the continent of Africa, learning about its rich musical traditions and rhythmic beats. First graders studied Australia and Polynesia, while second grade classes delved into the cultures of the Americas. Third grade students focused on Asia, and fourth grade paid tribute to their home state of North Carolina.
Students in the school’s dual language program also participated by singing two songs in Spanish and performing a traditional dance known as “El Torito.”
Staff members said the event was a joyful and educational experience that helped students gain a deeper appreciation for global cultures and traditions.
