Student reading what he is thankful this year.

At Charles D. Owen High School, the spirit of gratitude filled the air as Mr. John Hinson’s class hosted a special Thanksgiving feast. The cafeteria, adorned with festive decorations, buzzed with excitement as students and staff prepared to welcome parents, Associate Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Reed, and other Central Services staff as honored guests.

The aroma of roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie wafted through the room as staff worked together to create a meal that represented not just a holiday tradition, but a celebration of community and connection.

Staff and students shared stories and reflected on the things they were most thankful for this year. The Thanksgiving feast was more than a meal - it was a reminder of the power of gratitude, connection, and shared purpose. Everyone left with full hearts and a renewed sense of pride in being part of the Owen community. This event has been a longstanding tradition, and was started by Bill Goforth and Ingles Markets.
