Students in Kelly Dunbar's Civics class participated in a river cleanup activity at Charles D. Owen Park last week as part of a Civic Minded Project. As part of the class inquiry, each student proposed projects in class and the class voted on an action that they all wanted to take together. RiverLink provided equipment for the cleanup and Charles D. Owen Park provided a perfect space for students to evaluate the health of our communities recreation sources as well as the impact of our activity on the environment. The ability to investigate an issue they care about and participate in local solutions is fueling student engagement and making the end of the school year more relevant.
