Our school counselor meets with students in large group, small group, and individual sessions. A variety of circumstances in a student’s life, such as academic problems, adjustment to a new school or grade level, relationships with peers, depression, family problems or social and emotional problems may warrant the services of our school counselor. Parents may refer their child to the school counselor by requesting a permission form from the school office and returning it to the homeroom teacher. Students may request to see the school counselor one time without parent permission.
Candler’s Family School Specialist counsels with students and parents on issues related to school attendance. Excessive absences and tardies lead to poor academic performance. The Family School Specialist is able to help with extenuating circumstances that may cause students to have difficulties in regular school attendance.
