4th Graders Care About Environmental Issues
4th graders in Mr. Schmidt’s AIG class have completed their research projects related to a local environmental issue. Each student selected a topic andcreated a digital presentation to demonstrate their learning and research. Some of the topics included: the loss of hemlock trees, over-development, invasive species, slope slide erosion, acid rain and its impact on trees in WNC, wetland loss, as well as a study of the local food movement here in WNC.  Students also had the opportunity to write questions about their topic and send them to experts in our community with knowledge of these issues as a way of gathering more information. Students were able to choose how they wanted to present their research. These included the tools/websites PREZI, Google Slides, and Power Point. We’re very proud of how much the students learned and how hard they worked!
