Teacher: Rosanne Rousseau-Cavender
Mrs. Rousseau-Cavender holds a Master’s degree in Music Education. She plays the violin and viola and has performed with numerous orchestras and ensembles throughout the Southeast. She has taught orchestra for nine years and general music for five years. Mrs. R.C., as she is known to Candler students, believes in a varied and active music class. Students play xylophone, tambourine, drums, autoharps and many other instruments. They participate in movement, folk dance, and often contribute to the creative process. Critical thinking skills are employed as students interpret, discuss, compare and contrast the text of songs. They learn historical and geographical origins of songs. Mrs. R.C. rotates a schedule of rhythm, instruments, movement, text and creativity as she seeks to teach students to become independent music readers.
